Brainspotting was created by Dr. David Grand. He discovered that certain eye positions link to emotions stored in the brain.
For example, when we think about tough memories, our eyes often move while our accesses that memory.
Brainspotting works with these eye positions to help process hard-to-reach emotions. Researchers have shown it to be more effective than talk therapy alone.
I'll invite you to notice any thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations that come up while maintaining that eye position. We'll focus on what you feel in your mind and body right now, not on retelling the story. This makes it a gentle approach for processing difficult memories.
Brainspotting helps therapists guide clients through trauma, anxiety, grief, chronic stress, and other tough emotions.
During a Brainspotting session, we'll begin by talking about the issue you'd like to work on. I’ll watch your eye movements closely. Together, we’ll find a specific eye position, called a brainspot, that connects to your feelings.
Brainspotting may be helpful if you're experiencing:
Anxiety while trying to conceive or going through IVF
Pregnancy loss or miscarriage
Birth trauma
Postpartum anxiety or postpartum depression
Intrusive thoughts after having a baby
Feelings of grief, guilt, or shame
Chronic stress or emotional overwhelm
Trauma from previous experiences that has resurfaced during pregnancy or motherhood
If you need trauma therapy in Dallas, Texas, or support for postpartum depression or anxiety, Brainspotting combined with talk therapy can help. It uses a gentle, body-based method to process tough emotions.
No two fertility journeys are the same. That's why I tailor therapy to your unique experiences, goals, and emotional needs.
I use Brainspotting with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These two powerful approaches help you process tough experiences. They also teach you practical skills to handle intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and the stress of uncertainty.
Together, Brainspotting and ACT help you respond with more self-compassion and flexibility.
